Be Safe When Using Public Wifi

The use of unprotected WiFi when you are away from your office, whether at a local coffee house, in an airport or hotel, may cause you to lose identity, passwords and allow hijacking your email on your computer.

Prevention can be as simple as this:

  1. Select an email address from Yahoo! or Hotmail.
  2. When you will be away from the office, change your email settings to have all your email directed to that new address so all your email will be forwarded to this new address
  3. Use that new address when sending and receiving email on your portable computer.
  4. Reply using this address, cc'ing your regular email address so you have a record of your emails for archival purposes.
